Work will include reconstructing roadways, portions of the sidewalks, public art, and full streetscape (trees, planters, street furniture, and other pedestrian amenities). This website will be updated regularly with recent drawings and exhibits, surveys, meeting notifications and project schedule.

About the Project

In an effort to identify priorities for improvements within downtown Lewiston the Urban Renewal Agency (URA), in coordination with City staff, held a downtown stakeholders meeting in November, 2010. Based on the input of approximately 125 people that attendeed the number one priority identified was infrastructure improvements to support future development for the Twin City Foods property next to the Levee Bypass. As the result of this initial meeting and follow-up meetings with stakeholders the URA has identified the greatest need to be the development of First and Fifth Streets in downtown Lewiston.

Phase 1 conceptual planning was completed during the Spring of 2011 in order to better understand potential infrastructure improvements that might be required as part of this project, as well as to identify potential opportunities for beautification and functional improvements to better serve downtown Lewiston.

TD&H Engineering is currently in the design phase, which is estimated to be complete during the winter of 2011-2012. Construction is scheduled to begin Spring, 2012.
